The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) presented Dr. Thomas Murray with the inaugural Dr. Duane S. Ellifritt Research Award. Named after MBMA’s original director of research and engineering, this honor will be given to a researcher annually for contributions to the advancement of metal building systems. Dr. Murray accepted the award at the 2023 MBMA Research Symposium in Atlanta.

The resources include MBMA’s Architectural Significance in Metal Buildings folio series providing in-depth case studies for use in undergraduate and graduate architecture programs.

The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) is known for their education focus. The association’s Architectural Significance in Metal Buildings series for undergraduate and graduate architecture programs is one example. This series’ newest addition is a 24-page folio on the recently opened Michelle & Barack Obama Sports Complex in Los Angeles. MBMA created it in coordination with SPF:architects (SPF:a), Buro Happold Consulting Engineers and Nucor Building Systems.

Offering more than $28,000 in prizes across two divisions—graduate and undergraduate—this year’s contest challenges architecture students to create an innovative metal building design for a new municipal fire station.

The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) is gearing up to host its third annual Architecture Faculty Workshop for college and university professors nationwide. The two-day event will take place August 2-3, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. Registration for the program is now open at http://ow.ly/ooKz30sl6HL. MBMA will cover all expenses for architecture educators who attend, including travel costs, lodging and meals.
